Safe Sanctuaries

Safe Sanctuaries

Our Safe Sanctuaries Policy includes procedures and standards that guide our church in safely welcoming and serving children, youth, and vulnerable adults in our ministries. As a community of faith, we pledge to conduct the ministry of the Gospel in ways that assure the safety and spiritual growth of all of our children, youth and vulnerable adults, as well as all our volunteers and staff.

So, we follow proven procedures as we select and recruit volunteers and staff; we follow best practices within all programs and events; we train all of our volunteers and staff who serve with children and youth; we have established procedures for reporting a suspected incident of abuse to the proper authorities; and we have plans for how to respond if an incident or allegation occurs.

In all our ministries, Statesboro First is committed to demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ so that each person will be "…surrounded by steadfast love, established in the faith, and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal." We are blessed by the volunteers and staff who generously share their attention, gifts, and commitment to what God is doing here.
We are offering our volunteer adults, our volunteers who are under 18, and our staff - specific videos and assessments tailored to help train us in protecting our children, youth and vulnerable adults, our volunteers and staff, and our church. We have implemented ServeHub, an online training platform, to serve as our home base for online training. Volunteers are able to work through our training courses at their own pace. The church also maintains records of volunteer training and background checks, so you can be assured that staff and volunteers are aware of best practices to mitigate the risk of boundaries being crossed.
For all church volunteers, before working with any children, youth, or vulnerable adults. You will be asked by a Ministry leader to complete the Safe Sanctuaries Training Course. You will receive an email invitation to set up a ServeHub account.

ServeHub FAQ

I PASSED MY QUIZ BUT THE COURSE STILL ISN’T 100% COMPLETE. WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO DO?
The reason the course showed as 50-96% complete instead of 100% is likely because one or more of the lessons aren't finished in the eyes of the system. To fix this, log in to ServeHub and click on continue for the Safe Sanctuaries course.

You should see a list of all of the lessons. When you look at the list of lessons, there's likely going to be one or more that isn't at 100%. Click on that lesson, scroll down past the video and pdf to a button that says "Complete Lesson". Hit that button. It will take you to the next lesson, if you scroll all the way down past the video and everything else, at the bottom, you should again see a list of all the lessons. If there's still one that isn't 100%, click on that lesson and repeat the process until they all show 100%.

If you scroll all the way to the top, there's a title that says “Safe Sanctuaries by Statesboro First”, just below that it should also say 100% completed. If that's the case, then you're good to go!

The course needs to be 100% complete in order for you to receive a certificate of completion. Even if you pass your quiz, you will not receive a certificate unless all lessons are also completed.

QUIZ INFORMATION
After completing all of the lessons for the course, there are two quizzes that are listed below the lessons. The first one is a pass/fail quiz which you can take multiple times if necessary to pass. If you answer a single question incorrectly, you will fail the quiz.

The second “quiz” is not actually a quiz, but rather your volunteer statement. This assessment is not graded and only needs to be completed once. This is your-self statement confirming that you’ve read the materials and completed the training.

I DELETED MY INVITATION EMAIL, HOW DO I LOG BACK IN?
The invitation email is actually only useful for logging you in the first time. You can log in to the ServeHub platform by visiting https://app.servehub.io/ and using your email address and the password you created when you first activated your account. If you can't remember your password, use the forgot password button and follow the instructions to reset your password.
